What Causes Burning Sensation Behind The Knee?

Question: I am an 84 year old male and I have a burning sensation in the back part of my right knee. It has been there for over 18 hours and it doesn't want to let up. I try rubbing it and that doesn't seem to help any. What do you think the problem is and the fix . I'm worried about a blood clot

I have gone through your medical history in detail.

Burning sensation behind the knee can occur due to either a blood clot or a neuropathy (nerve inflammation).

A blood clot can be ruled out by doing a doppler study of the popliteal region.

If this does not show a blood clot,then the diagnosis is a nerve inflammation (sciatic nerve)

Blood clot,if found, can be treated by anticoagulants while a nerve inflammation can be treated by compression bandage,anti inflammatory tablets,methycobalamin and pregabalin tablets.
