What Causes Knee Pain, Swelling After Walking And Sciatic Nerve Problems?

My right knee which has always been fine has recently started to really hurt. I used to teach skiing for a living in my twenties, I m 48 years old and it s becoming difficult to continue a normal life. It swells up with just walking fast, and seizes up when bent - taking ages to straighten again, and it s alway hot!! My sciatic nerve is now playing up too. What is the problem, can you help!

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As you said skiing was your profession in the earlier days, you might have ended up with either a torn meniscus or a degenerative changes in meniscus with cyst formation. I will advice to get an MRI done to take a deep look about the condition.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sukhmin Singh, Orthopedic Surgeon
