Question: Hello. I have been experiencing a burning while urinating. Visited a doctor yesterday and was examined along with having a urinalysis which was clear. He told me he had no diagnosis. Any thoughts on what to do next?

Brief Answer:
prostate infection

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having pain on urination. Despite the clear UA I would still be concerned about a urinary tract infection including a prostate infection. The UA could be miss read by the lab person so IF you are still having pain I would get another UA done by a different lab. I would also consider possible sexual transmitted diseases like chlamydia. This infection is not always discovered on UA alone and may need additional sampling. The last thought is a prostate infection. The prostate sit at the base of the penis and can give symptoms of a UTI including pain and burning. Despite a normal prostate exam it still could be infected. So I would recommend going back to your medical provider and asked to be retested or to treat empirically for an infection.

In summary
1. Misread urine analysis
2. possible urinary tract infection
3. Possible STD
4 Possible Prostate infection
5. See your provider to be retested for UTI, STD and prostate infection
6. Start antibiotics empirically
