What Causes Burning, Tingling And Weakness In Legs Of A DVT Patient?
Question: Hello,
I have a DVT in my left leg from an extensive blood clot from october of 2014. I am now experiencing leg burning, tingling and weakness in both legs. I also have advanced degenerative disc disease in my cervical. Dont think its related but just in case.

- peripheral neuropathy
- spinal canal stenosis (especially considering your cervical disc)
- peripheral arteriophathy.
I don't think your symptoms are related to the DVT, as your symptoms are bilateral and not typical of DVT.
Coming to this point, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and some tests:
- a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels to examine the blood flow in them
- a nerve conduction study to investigate for possible polyneuropathy
- some blood lab tests (complete blood count, blood electrolytes, thyroid hormone levels, vitamin B12 levels, kidney and liver function tests) to exclude possible metabolic causes that may trigger this symptomatology.
