A stress test is not needed for aspirin!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am happy to know you were put on aspirin. However, am sorry the communication between you and your doctor was not the best as you seem not to understand why you are on this medication. Aspirin 81mg is recommended for seniors who have no contraindication to this as scientific evidence suggests great benefits at preventing cardiovascular events even in persons with no heart problems. As we grow older, the risk of having a stroke or heart attack is higher, taking aspirin in our later years has been shown to be beneficial. Your doctor left you thinking it was because of a possible heart problem, that is not the exact reason why.
Do you get any relief from nitroglycerin spray? If you do, then something may not be right about the heart. If you don't, then it may not be a necessary drug for you.
I do accept that the stress test should be repeated if you think it was not correctly done and as such the results are not valid. However, this test would not determine whether you continue taking the aspirin or not. So, let's get a new test but not to find out whether using aspirin is the right thing to do or not. Keep on taking the aspirin as recommended by your doctor.
Stress testing is not an emergency especially in the absence of symptoms. Please, be relaxed, get an appointment and follow through. I believe your doctors are having a tight schedule and would definitely attend to you in the nearest future.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be.
