What Causes Chest Pain Every Night After A Double Bypass Heart Surgery?

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Dec 2014
Question: i just had open heart surgery- double bypass, i am on post op day 7 and am still in pain especially after the sun goes down. the right sided chest tube location is excruciating, the sternal pain is a 5 to a 6. I cannot get into any comfortable position at night to sleep, and am not getting enough rest. My friend has a marijuana prescription for her arthritis pain and her partner who is a Dr says that it would help me. I am currently taking Norco every 4 hours including the nighttime when i should be sleeping and i have to count the minutes until 4 hours is up. It is killing my stomach is not keeping the pain away even enough to sleep... It is not smoked but is inhaled. I am embarrassed to ask my surgeon or cardiologist without having more information about this as i dont want him to think i am a drug addict yet i am so miserable and am going bonkers

Brief Answer:
Prescription not possible from here. Need a a visit

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I can understand the pain and trouble here. If narcotics are not helping then i suppose PCA patient controlled analgesia can help. If the chest tube is still in, i think it should be taken out.

As far as prescription of THC meds are concerned they are needed sometimes and there is no shying in asking for it. Rest marijuana use inhalation wise is not fine.

This forum is not for prescription meds and just counsels and guide the patient under the strict banner of patient education.

If you need any help with pain meds, i think you have to get in touch with the your doctor or a pain management expert.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

may the odds be ever in your favour.

Khan
