What Causes Chest Pain, Lumps In Throat, Cough And Brown Rashes On Leg?

default

Question: I have been sick for a few months and my doctor referred me to cardiologist to rule out heart problems. I've been taking propanolol to reduce anxiety that started when this began happnening in october. I have felt chest pain but no shortness of breath, internal chest tremors and some memory/concentration changes. My doctor is also trying to rule out anxiety but I've been very relaxed for two month and the symptoms have gotten slightly better but come back occasionally just as strong. I have a cough and my throat has these lumps. I've had swollen lymph nodes in my neck on one side for 4 months now. THE REASON I'm inquiring RIGHT NOW: Yesterday I found a brown rash on the bottom of my leg and I don't know how long it has been there. It's behind my left thigh and feels smooth and looks kind of like a bruise. I have no memory of getting hit hard enough to get a bruise this big however and it's not yellow, blue or red it's just brown. It's painless and the white circle you see in the photo feels slightly tender to the touch but not much. I have noticed some new freckles in the last week in different places on my body. I was camping a lot this summer and living outdoors more than indoors. I was in the US the whole time but I got thousands of mosquito bites and bed bug bites over the course of the summer. Maybe other bugs but I don't know. I seem to remember a "bullseye" bite like that of a tick but I remember for sure. YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Erythema nodosum - a panniculitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome to HCM,
Most likely Erythema nodosum a type of panniculitis.
It is the inflammation of the fat under the skin.Panniculitis feels thickened and woody to touch and demonstrate discolouration of the overlying skin, either reddening or darker, brownish pigmentation. the area is tender sometimes. After suppression of inflammation a slight depression in skin is noted.
As per your photo your inflammation phase of panniculitis is over and slight brownish yellow appearance is there.
panniculitis most commonly occurs due to trauma, cold or infection.
Freckles you are mentioning is actually insect bite most probably mosquito or bedbug as you have mentioned.

Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin is one of the side effect of propranolol but this localized effect is probably not due to this drug.
Swollen lymph node in neck needs proper investigation and treatment as throat infection and tuberculosis is one of the common cause of erythema nodosum, a type of panniculitis.
Diagnosis is by usually by clinical appearance and can be confirmed by excisional biopsy.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks.
