Question: In 2004 I had my esaphagus removed at UC XXXXXXX due to multiple massive benign tumors, with stomach pull thru. I had not been able to eat,
severe pain in chest, pain in swallowing when I tried to eat and had lost a lot of weight. The operation was done after I had consulted several doctors, gone to the Mayo clinic, UCLA (where I as diagnosed)and UC XXXXXXX ( diagnosed confirmed). I still had some some pain after eating that increased with time until 2007 when I had emergency surgery to remove my
gall bladder (done by cut open after 3 attempts to do laparoscopically). Now 7 years later the pain after I eat has continued and increased. My doctors, both are gastrologists, have done ERCPs (3) A collection bag for my bile was inserted but after no change it was removed. Then a stent was placed in my bile duct with again no change. Final diagnosis: nothing was found "wrong". Their opinion was that my issues were the result of my surgeries. I have had several different scans, X-rays, MRI's, ERCPs, endo's. My doctor placed me on full
liquid diet after I noticed that when I was on liquid diets for tests, that my pain was less severe. While the amount of liquids had too be small since any amount more than about 4 oz would also cause me pain. Meds I am on: nexium 40mg - Zoloft 50mg (
depression has been big issue)
dicyclomine 10mg 3xa day - on top of all this I also suffer severe
constipation for which I take stool softner and laxatives. I also have had 3surgeries for neck and lower back fusions due disc degeneration - so I also suffer severe pain in lower back. My pain management doctor has me on oxycodone 15mg every4hours as needed - soma350mg - and 100mg fentanyl patch every 3 days. Problem with pain meds is that they offer minimal help with all my pains. (I've seen same pain dr since 2006). Question: what else can I do? I'm on Medicare on perm
disability. Help!
