Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Mr XXXXXXX
Anxiety is associated with variety of Psychosomatic symptoms. During episode of anxiety there many changes occurring in the body
1. There is increased sympathetic overactivity: Increased activity causes elevated
heart rate. Normally we are not aware of our own heart beat, change is in rate or rhythm will cause own to feel their own heart beat beat. This is
palpitation that you are experiencing
2. Decreased pain threshold: During episode of anxiety the pain threshold is decreased and pain can be perceived at many region especially chest. The
chest pain you could be experiencing is likely to be due to that. It's quite common to have palpitations and chest pain occurring together.
Having explained to you the cause of Your symptoms based on your history of anxiety provided by you. Even then it's advisable to look for other serious causes, consider them , investigate and rule them out as the cause. It will be more reassuring and will avoid the risk of missing them out
It's a Clinical policy to rule out the following
1. Ischemic heart disease
2. Hyperthyroidism
Any chest pain, no matter how insignificant is it has to be evaluated to rule out Ischemic heart disease.
Other possibility is to rule out Hyperthyroidism as the cause, as it may be a cause for anxiety.
I would suggest you to get the following investigation done in consultation with your Physician
1. ECG
2. 2 D Echocardiography
3. Thyroid profile
If the reports are normal than there is no cause for concern. The symptom are due to anxiety, which will just require lifestyle modification
