Brief Answer:
soon but treatment is required

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

upper gastrointestinal discomfort is a common side effect of ciprofloxacin. By "common" I don't mean that everybody gets it, but it occurs in a significant (but low) percentage of patients taking ciprofloxacin. Dyspepsia may occur in up to 10% of patients and true heartburn occurs in less than 1%. Although 1% may sound too infrequent, image that for every 1000 individuals taking cirpofloxacin, 10 will experience heartburn, so this is something to consider. Also, the definition of dyspepsia encompasses various symptoms including burning discomfort.

Since it didn't wear off by itself and your heart was tested OK, you'd better take an acid reducing drug like ranitidine or omeprazole. It may help.

Kind Regards!

Thank you.

By when do you think will the side affect go away? I plan on visiting with my primary doctor this week. Do you thing they will require more tests?

Is there a chance I will see more side effects after just 1 pill?

Brief Answer:
usually not...

Detailed Answer:
You're welcome!

Sometimes the effect may wear off very soon after stopping the drug. Sometimes it may last for more. I don't believe you're going to do more tests. I would suggest talking to your doctor about ranitidine or omeprazole. And another drug will have to be chosen for the treatment of the infection obviously.

Kind Regards!
