What Causes Chills After Taking Enalapril?
I would explain as follws;
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome o HCM!
Regarding the actual concern, it seems that chilling expressed as shivering may be caused by a pyrogen reaction, probably by an acute inflammation/infection.
Sometimes, shivering may happen after taking some amount of cold water and food; or in conditions of hypoglycemia (low blood glucose level) or hypotension.
If no other complaints (breathing disorders, chest or body pain, dizziness, etc.) are present, then covering with blankets, and having some rest may be sufficient.
But, if the underlying complaint of shivering persists coupled with increased body temperature, the it is advisable to try any antipyretic drugs (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc) and to seek medical assistance to the nearest ER service.
A careful physical exam and some lab tests are necessary:
- complete blood count,
- PCR,
- ESR,
- blood glucose level,
- any imagine study (chest X ray, abdominal ultrasound, etc.), if underlying suggestive complaints occur.
