What Causes Chills And Fever, Tightness Of Chest And Extreme Fatigue?

Question: Symptoms: beginning yesterday, I started to experience chills and fever, tightness of the chest, copious amounts of mucus drainage, and extreme fatigue with a frequent cough. Not knowing symptoms of the flues going around today, I would like to know if this sounds like a flue strain or just like a common cold, but very severe.
The mucus is light in color with yellow sometimes.
I am 76 years old, work out at a gym 3 or 4 times a week, and keep a pretty healthy diet, except at the moment I have no appetite. My general health is very good.

Brief Answer:
More like flu
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Common cold usually runs its course without fever (or with mild fever). Runny/stuffy nose is its main characteristic. Fatigue is expected in every feverish situation but in influenza it is far more intense and may be accompanied by painful joints and muscles. I haven't understood where this mucus comes from. Is it from the nose? Or does it follow coughing?
In any case, fever with cough (particularly with sputum) needs medical investigation because there is a chance that this disease is pneumonia, which is a more serious one compared to the common cold and uncomplicated influenza.
I hope I've helped!
If you'd like more information, please let me know.
Kind Regards!
