What Causes Chronic Pain In The Upper Arm?
Question: Hi, this is XXXX. I want to find out some information on impingement of the shoulder. I have had this pain and it has increased for about 3 years. If I read all the information your website has on this disorder, will I be able to explain my symptoms better to the orthopedist who gives me injections about every 6 months??
My follow up is that I have had extremely sore muscles in the upper arm for about 1 year. Does this or may this be due to osteoarthritis, of which I have been diagnosed, degenerative osteoarthritis. What treatment would you recommend. This is in addition to the pain in the shoulder of which I have had an Xray of and it shows deterioration.

Brief Answer:
Needs an MRI
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for the query.
Impingement of the shoulder occurs when you do any overhead activities or when you lift the shoulder from the side of the body. This causes pain over the shoulder even on lifting weights.
Degenerative arthritis and repeated injections can put you at risk for tots to Rotator cuff tendon tear which can aggravate the situation.
Do get an MRI of the shoulder to confirm Rotator cuff tear if any.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
