Question: My lab test came back positve for streptoccus viridan. We did a urine analysis first but no infection was found. When we did a semen culture, it came back positive. I have been dealing with the problem for over 12 years. My symptoms consist of weak urinary flow, slight burn when urinating, and impotency. I was tested about three years ago. The doctor prescribed penicillin. It didnt work. I have taken doxycline, z pak, penicillin, levaquin, tetracycline, bactrim, and cipro. When i fist started having problems, I took levaquin. The levaquin worked but I didnt complete the whole regimen and the infection came back. 12 years later, I am still suffering from this issue. Please help me.

Brief Answer:
You have problem of Chronic Prostatitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for highlighting details of your problem .

The symptoms that you have since last 12 years and the refractory nature of the organisms to antibiotic suggest it to be a chronic prostatitis..

The bacteria flora in such situation always change their sensitivity pattern hence it is mandatory to repeat semen culture every 6 weeks and take appropriate antibiotic as per culture report.

Doing prostate massage every day does help to discharge prostatic secretions which is the primary source of infection .

Get your semen culture done again and follow the guidelines suggested.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.

Brief Answer:
Chronic prostatitis is infection of prostate which does not get cured

Detailed Answer:
Hellow
Thanks for follow up .

Chronic prostatitis is lingering infection of the prostate which subsides for few days after taking antibiotic but relapses again after few months either due to same bacteria with changed sensitivity pattern or from different bacteria.

Your recent semen culture has revealed it to be due to Streptococcal Varidan ,The report might have indicated the antibiotics to which they are sensitive to .Take antibiotic as per culture report for 6 weeks .

I have suggested you to take appropriate antibiotic and do prostate massage every day in my earlier reply .

Thanks and Regards.
