What Causes Chronic Tendonitis?

default
Posted on Sat, 31 May 2014
Question: I have a long history with tendonitis. Wrists, elbows, shoulders, hip, and ankles are regularly affected. Calcified tendonitis has caused both rotator cuffs to delaminate and tenosynovitis caused me to have a sagital band repair on my middle finger. It will rarely clear up on its on and usually requires steroid injection and/or joint immobilization. I take naproxin daily. I am neither extremely active or sedentary. Are you aware of any global or systematic causes of chronic tendonitis? Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Due to repeated stress.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Chronic tendonitis is usually caused by chronic repetitive motion with inadequate rest. It is usually found in older age and in athletes. Inadequate stretching before starting an exercise can also cause strain and inflammation in the tendons. The most common cause is repetitive stress -- using the same joints for the same stressful movements again and again
Try changing your exercise routine to something low impact. Try to give adequate rest to the inflamed tendon so that it can heal properly. Stop any painful movements. All these measures will help in decreasing the recurrences.
I hope this answers your query.
