Question: I have COPD , now a cold,hot and cold flashes,can not sleep long. should i go to the emergency room ?

You are mostly having infection.

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern.
Cold and hot sweats are suggestive of infection mostly .
So better to consult doctor and get done complete blood count (CBC) to rule out infection.
If infection is present then you will need antibiotic.
So also drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
You can also take antipyretic drug like paracetamol for symptomatic relief.
