What Causes Cold Peripheries, Tiredness, Fatigue, Nasal Congestion And Sore Throat?

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: I have noticed something odd for some time now. My body drops in temp to as low as 96.3 to 96.8 when I sleep at night. I've got a sore throat and some nasal congestion now. When I took my temperature, it was 96.6 degrees Fahrenheit. My hands are cold too and I have been tired and fatigued for about 3 or 4 weeks now. When I was in my late teens to early twenties, I averaged 96.8 degrees as my normal. My doctor IS sending me for a blood test to check me for Hepatitis C late this month or early XXXXXXX Can you help me? I've also been getting pain in my abdomen and stomach.

Brief Answer:
Cause undetermined...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

As I understand you have listed symptoms of cold peripheries, tiredness, fatigue, nasal congestion as well as sore throat. Body temperatures come down to the level of 96.3 F at night. Besides these, you have history of asthma, digestive issues and proteinuria.
Well, the symptoms you described are too broad to help me arrive at a possible cause. Only theory which can possibly explain the changes is slowing down of body metabolism which may be secondary to hormonal changes, an infection or nutritional deficiency.

That being said, I will not be able to convince what I say is true unless we have laboratory evidence. Therefore at this point of time, your doctor is doing right in ordering blood tests. I would prefer to get your blood count including hemoglobin, thyroid function, liver function, blood sugar and vitamin b12 function tested initially.

Abdominal pain can be explained by GERD + IBS which can be exaggerated by stressful condition. You can add antacids along with lansoprazole and see how it responds.

Finally, until we get results of blood test there is no reasons to be overly worried. You can try a few remedies at home to keep you comfortable such as:
1. XXXXXXX warm saline gargles to ease the throat ache.
2. Steam inhalation to free congested nose.
3. Keeping yourself covered with warm clothes and blanket at night.
4. Plenty of fluids and fresh fruits - vegetables use (if there are no contraindication).
5. Transcedental meditation and moderate physical exercise to keep you relaxed and destress.

I hope my reply is of some help to you. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
