What Causes Cold Symptoms After Abrupt Discontinuation Of Fluticasone Furoate Nasal Spray?
Question: Dr XXXXXXX
Just another thing, I tapered prednisolone for one tablet a day for 5 days and I finished the dose on 25th Dec and I also stopped all other medication as well.
The doctor has asked me to continue fluticasone furoate nasal spray for 21 days but I think I was not religious one some days and missed it.Off later (this is after 10 days of stopping),I have caught cold since a day.
Is it something related to withdrawal symptoms (or) it just happened because of the cold weather.
Can I use any medications. I have a runny and blocked nose. Thank you

Brief Answer:
DEVIATED NASAL septum
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Welcome again,
According to me, your deviated nasal bone due to which you are having cold so frequently.. You concurred it so early again might be because u stopped nasal spray so early and abruptly..it has to be used for at least 3 weeks and than tapered off..
Sometimes DNS is not so marked anteriorly and so not visible on examination...either a nasal endoscopy or a CT scan of PNS is to be done..
For now, just take spray and an antiallergic medication..
You can send me your CT films if you get it done..
It would be a pleasure to assist you in future too
Thanks and regards

Thank you doctor. I have restarted the nasal spray.
Nasal spray is the only one that was prescribed for 21 days. So I will continue this for the next 21 dsys and stop.
All other oral medication, I have completed the full course.
Any prescription for anti-allergy tables and what mg, dosage?

Since last 2-3 days I observed that I am having a burning sensation in my right nostril and it pains a lot while I breathe in and out. I see there is lot of dryness inside and outside of it with some runny mucus. I will continue with the spray as suggested.
What does this imply. Thank you again for your clarifications.

Yes there is pain at the tip of the nostril just above the upper lip.
The skin has become somewhat rough and dry and painful. No pulled hair that I remember of.
I have that sharp burning slightly painful sensation in the right nostril when I breathe. But I do not feel any block and it is quite free.
So can i go ahead with what you have suggested prescribing, Thanks got your advice.
