Question: I have had XXXXXXX colored spots appear across my feet and shins that are very noticeable. I take Metformin and through research have read that it could be related to the drug. What do you think?
Brief Answer:
Metformin
Detailed Answer:
To the best of my knowledge I am not aware of this being a metformin related side effect.
I have seen the photo provided and such skin spots are sometimes seen in people with diabetes. The medical term for it is 'diabetic dermopathy'. However, to be certain of the diagnosis , an in-person examination by a dermatologist is necessary.
This type of skin lesion has been very well described in published medical literature in those who have diabetes.
