What Causes Complex Cyst In The Left Ovary?

possible carcinoma ovary...get CA125 LEVELS...EXPLAINED
Detailed Answer:
hello,
thanks for contacting healthcaremagic.
After having gone through the reports and scan reports it is evident that , there is a complex cyst in the left ovary with internal septations with chronic cervicitis.
The cause for continuous or excessive discharge is cervicitis and it has to be treated with antibiotics for period of 14 days and if improvement is not seen then cryocauterisation can be considered. However the cause of concern is the complex cyst ovary, which may be a ovarian carcinoma if the CA 125 LEVELS are high/, CEA, AFP, BETA HCG are other tests which need to be done to rule out ovarian cancer in this case.
A ct scan of lower abdomen would be more sensitive than an ultrasound which XXXXXXX sometimes is unable to differentiate between thin and thick septations.
So get CA125 LEVELS, CEA, AFP , BETA HCG AND A CTSCAN DONE TO RULE OUT OVARIAN CARCINOMA.
Secondly, her serum amylase and homocysteine are raised indicating an element of pancreatitis and thrombogenic propensity( high homocysteine). But if she is asymptomatic and there is no dyspepsia or mucous in stools ( fats in stools), then no active intervention required in that case.
If she has missed her periods and deviry is started , then she should get her periods within 7 days of stopping deviry.
please follow up,
regards, Dr.Sameer Kumar

I will complete the CA-125 and continue the followup separately. However I will like to understand few things
1) what would like to know the approx cost for each of the mentioned tests and whether all blood tests CA125 LEVELS, CEA, AFP , BETA HCG, CTSCAN
2) You have reviewed the entire report and found only amylase and homocysteine to be concerning, do you see anymore parameters to be looked at in the complete report
3) What is the recommended further course of action/tests for the confirming/correcting amylase and homocysteine levels.
hello, ...explained
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
as far as amylase and homocyteine is concerned , they have to be followed up with a repeat test after 1 month, as she is aymptomatic presently, so there is no point over doing the investigations and go by the priority. amylase is raised in cases of pancreatitis which can be treated with antibiotics but if she is asymptomatic now , we can wait till the results of CA125, CEA, AFP, BETA HCG AND ACT SCAN ARRIVE.
The tests to rule out ovarian carcinoma are important and have to be done first.
