What Causes Constant Fatigue And Lack Of Sleep?

Sleep apnea, Thyroid hormone imbalances
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.
Lack of restful sleep can cause your symptoms as can thyroid hormone imbalances.
I would:
-elicit a detailed medical, personal and family medical history
-do a complete physical examination, to include body mass index.
-do basic blood investigations (complete blood count, blood glucose panel, Thyroid profile, lipid profile, serum creatinine), salivary Cortisol levels, if indicated.
Based on the results and clinical findings, I would recommend a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea. This can occur in overweight and obese people or those with structural changes in the upper airway that can obstruct airflow when your sleep.
Thyroid hormone imbalances (hypothyroidism can cause your symptoms and treatment includes supplement with levothyroxine).
I suggest you see your physician to check for the above and in the meantime, try the following :
- sleep earlier
- avoid stimulants like caffeine, sugar, sodas, vit c afternoon 5pm
-take warm bath and have a banana before bed time.
-keep sleep environment moist.
-don't drink too much water at least for 1hr before bed. Sips are OK.
-get some outdoor exercises earlier in the evening. Walking is good.
-avoid watching television, using computer, phone in the bed and switch off any music you may listening to before you sleep. This disrupts sleep.
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
