Xanax contains alprazolam and has a half life of about 11 hours for an immediate release form of the drug. Alprazolam should ideally be taken half an hour before going to bed , preferably at night. Taking it in the morning would interfere with your normal circadian rhythm. It can cause drowsiness, numbness or tingling sensations in the head/limbs etc. It can also lead to impaired co ordination and memory. Please get your blood pressure and blood sugar, electrolytes checked via a health facility near you if the condition persists or worsens for longer than 10 hours after you took the Xanax. However, most likely the numbness and tingling will reduce as the drug gets eliminated. Maintain adequate hydration and try to take some rest for a while.
