What Causes Constant Pain In Mid Back Toward Left Side?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Feb 2015
Question: I am a diabetic. And in the past 3 months or so I've had a constant pain to my mid-back, toward left side. The pain is constant, but sometimes I get what I call a flare up, when the pain is intense, my urine becomes dark. Is this a sign of kidney problems?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of Renal cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms

Going by description of location of pain and discolouration of Urine , possibility of Renal cause needs to be considered. It is likely to be due to Ureteric colic ( stone blocking the ureter ).

I would suggest you the following

1. Urine routine and microscopic examination

2. Ultrasound scan of abdomen

You can get it done in consultation with your Physician.

In the meantime I would suggest you the following

1. Ensure good intake of water : 2 to 3 liter a day

2. Avoid tomato and spinach

3. Antispasmodic like Drotavarin will help relieve pain

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care
