Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This is called tinnitus.

Tinnitus is the medical condition where a person perceives sounds in the ear. May be humming as in your case, some persons may have ringing, buzzing, roaring

There are different causes, some reversible, some may not be.

Causes include: (a) infection of the ears
(b)excess wax
(c)trauma or a foreign body in the ear
(d)sinusitis

These are some of the reversible causes.

(e)side effect of medications- some nsaids (aspirin , ibuprofen, naproxen etc), antibiotics, diuretics

(f)age related hearing loss or hearing loss due to exposure to loud noises can also cause tinnitus

(g)anemia, thyroid disease, mass ,hypertension

(i) menieres- condition associated with tinnitus, hearing loss and vertigo

In some cases it is reversible, as mentioned eg if there is an infection or excess wax or sinus problems etc
In some cases this is not the case

It would be best to see an ENT doctor for assessment to determine the cause so that you can find out whether treatment is possible.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
