default
Posted on Wed, 15 Apr 2015
Question: I have been taking norco for pain from a broken arm. I only take 1at bedtime. Now I am constipated. I have been straining too much to go. Is there something over the counter I can take to ease the pain of constipation? I have heard that honey can help.

Brief Answer:
Stopping norco drug is permanent solution;others as following...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

When a patient comes to my office with constipation problems, I try to go depth into details to determine the right cause to constipation.

In your case, taking norco drug is the cause to constipation issues.

If you stop taking it, your constipation problems will be definitely resolved.

If you will continue taking it as you need to ease pain from a broken arm, then, I advise to:
- take senna supplement (sometimes they come as candies) to increase bowel movement (bm)
- take lactulose to soften the stool
- take Psyllium supplement to increase fecal mass
- increase water intake
- try to take daily walkings

Honey is good and can help. Olive oil is also good if you take early in the morning.

Hope it was of help!
