What Causes Constipation While On Cephalexin And Baclofen?
Question: My wife is taking cephalexin (500mg pill) for a urinary tract infection and baclofen (10mg pill) for muscle pain. She had a fall Thursday where she compressed the T12 vertebrae. Last night she was constipated and vomiting. My research so far indicates that she should stop taking the baclofen (which she has taken only 4 pills). I am correct on this and what about the cephalexin?
Brief Answer:
constipation is common with baclofen
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
baclofen frequently causes constipation. Cephalexin is not supposed to cause it. If treatment with baclofen is not crucial for her, then stopping it would be recommended. She can take 'simpler' drugs like paracetamol (acetaminophen) for pain, if that's enough for her. In any other case she'd better call her doctor.
Kind regards!
