Yeast infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
The discharge you mentioned is typically seen in yeast infection. Since you were already treated once, the treatment seems to be ineffective or incomplete.
There are various other strains of yeasts that need to be identified and isolated. HVS culture and sensitivity test needs to be checked. This will indicate the antifungal medicines this strain is responsive to.
If it is combined infection with more than one strain of yeast or Combined infection of yeast with bacteria, it is difficult to treat with fluconazole alone and needs antibiotics along with antifungal medicines.
Therefore please request your gynecologist to send HVS for culture and sensitivity test for yeast as well as bacteria. You can take medicines accordingly.
Also request prescription for antifungal vaginal pessary like clindamycin which are more effective than oral medicines.
I would like to thank you for the answer, but I have one small question. Years ago I had an ultrasound scan and the findings were endometriosis, could it be the reason why all this is happening (the dark brown discharge) . Is something erupting in the uterus causing this discharge? I have not told the gynaecologist anything about the endometriosis and just to add am new in this country.
Your response will be appreciated.
Thanks and kind regards
