What Causes Cough And Throat Pain While On Ibuprofen And Tylenol?

I'm out of state right now and I'm trying to figure out if I should go to the urgent care or wait till I get home( another 4 days).
All my symptoms have been going on for about 3 days now.
â¢My throat is very painful. I've been taking ibuprofen and Tylenol, cough drops, and this disovable table that has acetmetaphen in it.
â¢My tonsils are huge. They are swollen to the point then are squishing my uvula. I've had to eat soft food cause otherwise food gets stuck.
â¢My tonsils have few tiny little white patches on them scattered periodically
â¢My ears are a little painful(mainly the left). Kinda itchy.
â¢I also have this weird rash type thing on my left arm and left upper thigh, kinda near the groin area.
â¢I have a slight cough, doesn't happen often
â¢I have had a moment where I was having a difficult time breathing due to my tonsils being the size they are.
â¢I am not running a temperature.
⢠I also have all the body aches of being sick. I'm also feeling Hot but not running a temp.

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.
I am concerned that you might have strep pharyngitis otherwise known as strep throat. This can sometimes contribute to abscess formation in the back of the throat or tonsillar area. Since your symptoms seem to be progressing and it is affecting your ability to breathe and swallow then I think it would be reasonable for you to seek medical attention sooner rather than later.
the advantage of obtaining medical attention sooner is that if you need an antibiotic to be started sooner and this may help to significantly short and the duration of your symptoms and prevent progression of your sentence to a more serious state which could require hospitalization.
in the meantime, maintain very good fluid hydration. You may take ibuprofen up to 800 mg every eight hours as needed for the pain.
i'm sorry that you're experiencing such discomfort and I hope your symptoms improve quickly with the help of your local medical provider.
Thank you again for sending a question.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga
