Question: My nephew is 1 month old. He was brought to Dr today due to throwing up and coughing. Doctors discovers his heart rate is at 300 bpm and could not get it to go down. What causes this? He is being brought to Children's Hospital in XXXXXXX but so far no answers.

They gave him some medicine for it and it didn't come down. As far as reoccurring, what can parents do to prevent it?

They must have tried adenosine 2-3 times initially.
If it fails they will try other drugs which take some time to act.
Parents cannot do anything to prevent it .
They can learn to identify it if it comes suddenly.
By simply placing the hand on the chest ,one can identify fast heartbeats!
