What Causes Cough Followed By Rashes In Lower Legs?
My question is the positive ANA that he had last Septemebr. He tested negative for Anti DSna and anti SM. Creatinine at .60, Rheumatoid Artthritis also negative, urinalysis now negative for blood and protein . His Pedia said no need to worry about his positive ANA test before bec he doesnt have any symptoms. No joint pains whatsoever.
My question is, bec of his positive XXXXXXX test 4 months ago, im so worried that it might lead to SLE. Doctor said that not all people w positive ana will have sle. Is this correct? Pls help
Your doctor is right - Do not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi...I have read through your history completely and I assure you that your doctor is absolutely right. You need not be worried about it.
The statement of your doctor that - not all people who have positive ANA will have SLE is correct.
I want to allay your fears regarding ANA - A positive antinuclear antibody (ANA) test does not automatically mean your son has lupus. A positive ANA blood test shows that the immune system is making an antibody (protein) that reacts with components of the body's cells. This is called autoimmunity and may or may not be harmful to the body.
So while a positive ANA may be associated with an autoimmune illness like lupus, it does not mean your son has the disease.
Approximately 20% of the normal population will have a positive ANA test.

My next question is, can my son go back to playing soccer? That means that he will be exposed to sunlight all the time. Koz i did not let him play since his HSp. Will exposure to sunlight put him at risk for developing SLE?
He can play soccer under sun
Detailed Answer:
Hi...

HSP Prognosis
Detailed Answer:
Hi...Regarding HSP prognosis I would like to tell you certain facts - Henoch-Schönlein purpura is a self-limited illness that demonstrates no clinical sequelae in most patients without renal involvement. Most patients recover fully within four weeks. Recurrences of Henoch-Schönlein purpura occur in up to one third of patients within the first six months after onset and are more common in patients with renal involvement.
But here your son does not have any renal involvement. So you can be rest assured regarding this.
If the initial urinalysis at diagnosis is normal, or if there is isolated hematuria (without nephritic or nephrotic syndrome), a monthly urinalysis should be performed for the first six months after the diagnosis of Henoch-Schönlein purpura.
HSP is not life threatening.
I wish your kid a speedy recovery. If you need any future medical consultation and suggestions, I will be glad to help. You can approach me at the following link. Please find the link below -
