Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

Being a smoker and an asthmatic you are prone to get fast deterioration to your lungs and that seems to be the case. Smoking and asthma together have made your lungs prone to infections.
In my opinion you are having lung infection and inflammation at the moment which is causing cough and sputum.

This is black because there might be some internal damage to lung tissue which may cause small amount of local bleed which get black. Excess coughing causes causes damage to soft parts in respiratory passages this damage causes pain and coloured sputum.

Now I will come to the suggestions and treatment options you have in your case.
1) Don't panic this can be controlled easily.
2) Try to leave smoking as soon as possible you can not afford smoking in your settings.
3) Take stream inhalation twice a day this softens clogged up mucus in respiratory passages and gives much relief.
4) Take some Over the counter cough syrup to get symptomatic relief.
5) Take Tablet Alegra-D if you have congestion.
6) Take OTC antihistamin like Benedryl 10mg daily at night.

If this doesn't get better in 4-5 days or you start getting fever, immediately contact your doctor because in that case you might be needing a prescription of antibiotics, your doctor might also need to run some blood works to decide better meds.

I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.

Regards,

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad.
