What Causes Coughing Up Green Mucus And Throat Irritation?

Question: Yesterday I woke up with irritation in my throat, and as the day progressed, it turned into a cough that would sometimes produce green mucus if I coughed hard enough. As the night went on, my cough started to sound seal-like, and it was harder to breathe. I have no other symptoms such as a runny nose, or sore throat. The only thing I have is a cough that is producing green mucus and inflammation in my airways, which is causing irritation in my throat. One of things concerning me is the fact that I use e-cigarettes daily, which I have heard can cause abnormal respiratory infections. I was also exposed to bronchitis by a co-worker who has had to come into work sick for several days now. I would just like to know if you have clue as to what may be going on with me, and what I can do to make myself better. Thanks!

Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, I would like to advise that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated.
Following investigations may be helpful :-
1. Complete Blood Count ( CBC ).
2. Throat swab culture.
3. Sputum examination.

You can take an antihistamine like Fexofenadine 120 mg once a day for relief from your symptoms. Warm saline gargles may also help.

Further medical management can be planned after clinical examination and report of the investigations.
