What Causes Dark Blue Spots And Bruising On The Side Of The Tongue?
Question: I woke up this morning
on the underside of my tongue I have some dark blue looks like bruising along the right hand side of tongue.
yesterday I had a fever all day and spent the day in bed with what seems like a cold, sore throat and achiness.
Then the tongue this morning.
Strange taste in mt mouth as well almost metalic?

Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the dark blue discoloration below the tongue or in the floor of the mouth is concerned, I have the following possibilities:
It can be a varicose veins which are nothing but the normal dilated veins which does not require any treatment.
The other possible cause can be a ecchymosis secondary to trauma or viral infections eg. Dengue(since you are giving history of fever).
Nothing to be panic, consult an oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to get complete blood investigations done to confirm the diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is confirmed we can treat accordingly.
