What Causes Dark Discoloration On The Foot?
Question: My right foot is a different color from my left. The right foot is darker, almost blue in spots. The right ankle is swollen slightly. I have no pain or tenderness. I had a PE three years ago that probably started as DVT in the right calf, and am on warfarin. --XXXX, 63
Brief Answer:
For how along has this been?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.
I have reviewed this information fully and the attached image. The change in color probably signals blood leakage into the skin. This might happen following trauma or even putting on tight fitting shoes. Blood under the skin has a bluish discoloration. The good news is that the blood would over time be reabsorbed by the body’s cells. There is no need for special attention unless it extends further.
On another note, what was the last INR value?
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

I believe my last INR was 2.1. It was varying quite a bit, month to month, but has settled in the range of 2.1 to 2.4 the last two months. This reminds me, I'm due for another INR!
