What Causes Dark Purple Colored Blisters On Vagina?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Feb 2015
Question: I am 45, not pregnant. I have been on several different pain meds due to neck surgery and have developed what look like black or dark purple blood blisters on both sides of my
vagina. They don't bleed, hurt or itch.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I would like to start by asking if you are comfortable attaching images of the affected region to our discussion for my examination.

I would like to also ask if you have these blister or lumps around the centre of the entrance of the vagina? Could you also write back to me confirming or ruling out the following symptoms:

+Fever
+Pain during sexual intercourse
+Discomfort while walking or moving around

I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you further. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, or with any additional information that can be helpful, I would greatly appreciate it.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Provided a few options, need some answers too ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Thank you for writing back to me.

There should be an option available on our discussion page itself for you to attach images, I am not sure where it is as I do not have the same viewing page as you do. If at all you cannot locate it, please send the images to:

YYYY@YYYY
YYYY@YYYY

and make sure the subject reads '@Dr. Shoaib Khan'.

I would also like to ask you a few more questions if you do not mind ma'am:

+Have you been tested for any sexually transmitted infections previously? If yes, when? And which infections?

+Have you experienced blisters around your genitalia anytime prior to this?

+With your current pregnancy, you have been involved with this partner since when?

+Has your partner ever been tested for STDs? Please provide details on the same ma'am.

I look forward to hearing from you at the earliest, and would also like to inform you that I shall wait for a duration of about 6-8 hours in case your image has not successfully been updated within that much time, then I shall find another option to do so, do not worry ma'am we shall reach the bottom of this together.

Best wishes ma'am.

Ok I have sent the images. You must have misunderstood. I am not pregnant nor have I been for some time. I had a complete pap, physical and was tested for everything including hepatitis and aids. I do it each year. My partner is not experiencing any issues.

Brief Answer:
Thank you so much for the clarification ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Thank you so much for clearing my misunderstanding and also for the attached images. From examination, your presentation cannot be related to any sexually transmitted infections, at least not in the conventional way.

This presentation resembles some trauma or micro-trauma which could have caused the hair follicles to bleed, and appear with the current presentation. I would like to ask if you experienced bleeding around the region from any actions like shaving the region, waxing the region, hair being pulled or plucked out, or any other form of trauma to the area. Please write back to me with a detailed description of the same (if any).

I would although recommend a visit to your ob/gyn for a physical examination, as that would be the best way to reach a confirmed and accurate diagnosis, and to prescribe treatment if required.

In the meantime, you could however apply warm compresses to the region (indirectly as tolerated) to help improve circulation, take lukewarm showers 1-2 a day and also avoid shaving, waxing, etc; the region.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please write back to me with the information I need to confirm the cause, or with any additional information you have that can help me.
