What Causes Dark Urine After Having Xanax?
Question: I am on a low dose of xanax 1-2 times/day at .25mg dose. I've noticed darker yellow/brown urine. Anything to be concerned about?

alprazolam has nothing to do with the dark urine. 0.25mg twice a day is a very low dose anyway but no interference with the urine color is expected even in much higher dosages.
Lexapro is not supposed to cause that either.
Please note that dark yellow urine is different from brown urine. Dark yellow urine is the usual color of a dehydrated person's urine. When one drinks less water than needed, the urine is dark yellow. When one drinks more water than needed the urine get less yellow and look like water.
Brown urine usually relates to liver problems or drugs. The brown color is not normal.
To accurately assess the color of your urine use a transparent container and watch it against a white background with good lighting.
