Brief Answer: melanosis can be genetic or due to chemicals Detailed Answer: Hello there͵ Welcome to HCM͵ Darkening of skin is called as melonosis caused by production of more melanin pigment by skin cells melanocytes. Melanosis around the temple area is due to genetical factor and is common in females . It may be due to application of certain oils on scalp such as some scented oils or cosmetics containing certain chemicals which actually irritates our skin and due to exposure to sunlight these creates more activity of melanocytes resulting in dark patches. Consult a dermatologist and ask for skin lightening lotions or any skin treaments like lasers ͵chemical peels etc. I hope this answers your query͵ Take care͵ Dr.farah XXXXXXX
