What Causes Delay In Period With Negative UPT After Having IUI?
Question: Hi, My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant and did a cycle of Clomid + IUI. I took an ovulation test on 1/12 and it showed LH surge, so we did IUI on 1/13. Now it is 2/1 and I haven't gotten my period yet, but have taken a HPT and it was negative. On 1/28 I went to the RE and they did an ultrasound, it showed 11.5mm uterine lining and nothing abnormal. She did blood tests, those said HCG result was 'not pregnant' and Progesterone 55.9 ng/mL and Estradiol 827 pg/mL. I assume that my LH surge was actually later than when I took the test, or could I still be pregnant? (note we did have intercourse ~ every other day between 1/11 and 1/19)
Brief Answer:
Pregnancy not likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If you had an LH surge on 12th XXXXXXX or even a few days later, The pregnancy test should have been positive by now. Usually it takes 10-12 days for the HCG levels to rise.If your blood test on 28th was negative then the chances of pregnancy are not there in this cycle.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. But what would cause my period to be so late? My doctor seemed confident from the ultrasound that I did ovulate.
Brief Answer:
Wait for the periods to start.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Every ovulation does not result in successful fertilization. There are other factors also like cervical factors that can cause an unsuccessful conception.
The delay in periods can be due to progesterone supplements or mild hormonal disturbance. Stop taking any progesterone supplements if you are taking. Wait for few more days for the periods to start on their own.
Hope my answer is helpful.
