What Causes Delayd Periods After Taking Viorele?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Oct 2014
Question: Hi, I am on Viorele. I was supposed to get my period on Sunday. It is Friday, and I still have not gotten it. Usually, since I have been on the pill, I get my period later in the week on Wednesday or Thursday. I take the pill every time I wake up, and I have never missed a pill. I had unprotected sex on Sunday and Wednesday - could that delay my period? Also I have been very stressed, and I heard that stress delays periods. Is it normal to miss a period when on the pill? Am I pregnant?

Brief Answer:
mental stress and hormonal imbalance

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Viorele contains Deogestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol as active ingredients. It gives more than 99% protection against unwanted pregnancy on regular taking.

Hormonal imbalance and mental stress can delay your coming period. Fluctuation of body hormone may be due to excitement of sexual intercourse.

If you involved in sex this Sunday and Wednesday, then you have NO chance of pregnancy. In this case, you are ABSOLUTELY SAFE.

WHAT TO DO : 1) You just await another 3-5 days to get your period naturally.

2) Try to avoid MENTAL stress by regular yoga or meditation.

3) Take healthy balanced diet and drink more water or fluid.

4) Avoid fatty/ salty/ spicy food along with tea and coffee.

5) Keep bowel habit regular & maintain genital hygiene properly.

6) Take sound sleep without much worried regarding this.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and practice safe sex in future.

Brief Answer:
one home pregnancy test should be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up query.

If you did unprotected sex on Sept 17 or middle of your cycle (close to your ovulation day), then LOW RISK of pregnancy should be ruled out through home pregnancy test as you have missed your regular period.
