What Causes Delayed Menstruation After A Depo-Provera Shot?
Question: I previously had not been on any birth control....always a regular menstrual cycle. However, I received a depo provera shot in November. Then in December, I got my period two times, lasting a week each time. I was due for a shot in February but did not go back to get it. We now want to get pregnant and Im worried that my fertility is messed up, as I have not gotten my period back yet. Should I take herbal remedies to get my hormones back to normal. How long will it take before I am regular and able to ovulate and become pregnant now? I have read that it takes some women a couple of years after even one shot! Does the amount of time on the shot impact fertility?
Brief Answer:
Take progesterone tablets to get periods
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply :
1) Effect of Depot proverb usually lasts for about 3 to 6 months.
2) Since you have not got periods, you can ask your doctor to prescribe medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets for a week which will help you to get periods.
3) I don't think herbal remedies will help you in such situation.
4) There might some irregular cycles for couple of month after which they will become regular.
5) Amount of time on the shot does not impact fertility. You have good chances of getting pregnant.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
