What Causes Diaphoresis After Surgery Of Broken Ankle?
Question: My husband had surgery on a broken ankle 8 days ago, Since then has been diaphoretic, mostly at night, but some during the day. He takes a blood thinner, blood pressure meds, and cymbalta, hydrocodone, and gabapentin for back pain. His hydrocodone was increased post surgery. He was prescribed an antibiotic, but not until one week post surgery. Should I be concerned about the diaphoresis?

He has been on Cymbalta for almost a year without diaphoresis as a side effect. Change occurred after surgery. Same answer?

Hello

Metabolism does change constantly. Cymbalta could have become toxic in the recent times either due to the interaction to the newer drugs added or due to the change in the metabolism.
I suggest you to do the following during the episode of diaphoresis
1. Check his body temperature
2. Check his blood sugars
3. Check his blood pressure
Some of the other causes of diaphoresis is high body temperature, low blood pressure, low sugars, low vit D in the body and also high thyroid levels. On your next visit to the doctor I suggest you to get his Vit D and thyroid levels checked as well
I hope I was of help
