What Causes Diarrhea And Swollen Lips After A Meal?
now have swollen lips. I am 76. XXXXXXX
Explained
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Diarrhea in combination with swollen lips indicate an allergic reaction to the food.
Isotonic fluids should be replaced to prevent dehydration. Anti emetics like domepeidone would be needed to counter any nausea or vomiting. The lips need to be examined. If there is evidence of swelling or allergic response then airway should be maintained and steroids plus antihistamines should be given accordingly to counter and associated inflammatory response. If the diarrhea is watery then fluid replacement alone will suffice. However, if its infectious, meaning there is blood in stool, fever and a high WBC count then admission and IV antibiotics plus fluids administration may be required.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
