What Causes Diarrhea, Sore Throat, Vomiting Up Of Bile And Severe Heartburn?
Question: I went to Mexico.While I was there I had some diarrhea and then a sore throat. When I got back I started throwing up bile and had to go to the hospital. They didn't test my stool because it wasn't diarrhea at that time but I have had horrible smelling gas and stools since. Now I have horrible heartburn that nothing will help, not even stuff like Prevacid, etc., and sinus congestion which seems infected. I think I have giardia. Am I corrected? I am also amazingly tired.

Hello. Thanks for putting your query in hcm. I can understand your concerns. It apperas to be viral or bacterial infection. I will advise you to get your stool examination and complete haemogram. For heartburns I will advise you to take ilaprazole which is the most efficacious and with minimal side effects proton pump inhibitor presently available along with a prokinetic agent like levosulpiride. Also take tablet famotidine at night after dinner. I found this combination very useful in my patients who do not respond to simple proton pump inhibitor. May also take some antacids like syrup digene on sos basis. Also avoid citrus fruits, spicy food, tea and coffee. For sinus congestion take some antihistaminics like cetrizine.
