What Causes Diarrhea While On Tazobactam And Piperacillin?

Question: My mother age 70,copd,carpulmonale,A:F 2:1 from sevral yrs,currently blood test TLC COUNT 20800,RBC 5.9,HB 16gm,RBC 2.41.present medicines are,tazobactam +piperacillin 4.5 iv inj.from five days three times a day,oral drugs DYTOR PLUS 10 OD,dilzem cd 90 bd,rebicip 20 mg bd,metolar 25 mg s.o.s,pah 20 bd,acitrom 1 od,ab phylline 200 od,atorlip 20 mg od.darolac bd,today present problem is diorrhea 5-6 times I am very confused, what i will do in this situation.

Diarrhoea is due to the antibiotic Piperacillin+Tazobactum. Though your doctor has given Darolac to avoid diarrhoea but still it has occured. Don't worry .

First make sure she doesn't get dehydrated. Let her drink plenty of water ( Boiled water ) Tender coconut , ORS and fruit juice. Avoid milk and Curds.

Get a prescription for Cap Redotil and use it for 1-2 days.
