What Causes Diarrhea With Gurgling Sound In Stomach And Mucus In Stool?
Question: Hi, I am facing from mild diarrhea for more than a year.
It was intermittently relieved for a couple of months but, again started from the month of December 2013.
I took all the related medicines like metrogyl, Norflox TZ, Oflox Tz, Ciplox Tz, Lopramide, Darolac but, the problem reoccurs after the medicine course is completed.
Please note than I dont have any pain or discomfort in the stomach.
Only I hear some gurgling sound in my stomach sometimes or at the time when I fee bowel pressure.
FYI, I go to the loo for around 2-3 times in a day and also find mucus in my stool sometime.

Brief Answer:
Need investigations to rule out IBD
Detailed Answer:
You need further investigations in the form of a colonoscopy to rule out inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis.
You have taken medications for infection in the colon.
Based on colonoscopy and its biopsy result, further treatment would be planned.
Meanwhile please get a routine exam and culture done for your stools.

Thanks for the suggestion doctor.
I dont never had any pain in the stomach or any loss of appetite or blood in the stool, which are symtoms of ulcerative colitis.
Even, I dont feel any uneasyness in the stomach. The weight is also stable and gained some weight in recent period after loosing a couple of Kgs 6 months back.
Only things is that I feel some weakness, may be due to loss of fluid.

Brief Answer:
Investigations needed
Detailed Answer:
Yes, you are right but without getting a stool test, you cannot rule out microscopic bleeding. Also as this is going on for so long, it has to be investigated. If normal, you will be diagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome and treated for it. But without testing and ruling out other causes, this diagnosis cannot be made.
