What Causes Difficulty In Breathing While Treating Sinusitis?
Question: Hello
My Son has been having terrible nose problems effecting his breathing, He is 16 and has exams over the next 7 months and he's having problems sleeping due to his breathing. Hi was initially diagnosed with Sinusitis and a Deviated nasal septum and was prescribed Mometasone 50 micrograms/dose nasal spray 1 spray twice daily, and also given Clarithromycin 500mg 42 tablets 1 at bedtime
After months it had not improved and he went to see another ENT specialist that gave the diagnoses of Chronic rhinitis Please see attached letter on diagnosis and treatment. its been well over a month and there has not been any improvement. He really needs his sleep.
Can you tell me what else can be done to get results?
is there a better medication for this?
The first Doctor who diagnosed it as Sinusitis and a Deviated nasal septum mentioned an operation could be done in the future to correct the Deviated nasal septum, but with the new diagnoses dose this still stand as an option, I believe the Deviated nasal septum was minor, and surely that would only help if the restriction was on one side of the nose? His obstruction is sometimes one side of his nose and other times its on the opposite side of his nose and even both sides at times with one being worse. So how could this operation help with that?
He own GP reluctantly after i pushed to w have hime tested for pollen and dust mights both came back negative. I have been told there is a much larger panel of test for allergies that can be tested for can you tell me what these are and recommend what ones should be done so I can approach a different GP and ask for the tests to be done.
Many Thanks

Brief Answer:
Chronic nasal pathology
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic and thanks for putting up the query
I have read the complete history. From the complaints it seems to be either a deviation in nasal septum or nasal mucosal hypertrophy or polyps.
Please attach the reports and tell me for how long is he having these symptoms?
Follow up with the required information so that I can suggest you better.
Use a fluticasone nasal spray twice daily and take tablet levocetrizine plus psuedophedrine twice daily for a week. this will definitely help you with symptoms.
All the medicine prescribed by me will be available only on prescription.
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards
