Brief Answer:
This is because of the chewing of tobacco.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. This is Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF) and is due to the chewing of tobacco products. This is common in XXXXXXX

2. Stop the tobacco immediately.

3. Get an oral examination done to check the extent of the problem and the mouth opening. This is measured in the no of fingers that can be placed between the teeth on opening the mouth. Normal mouth opening is three and a half to four fingers.

4. Weekly injection of Kenacort (triamcinolone) in the retromolar trigone area after a 10-15% lignocaine spray for six weeks usually leads to improvement in the mouth opening. Avoid spicy food. Start multivitamins.

5. These conditions are considered pre-cancerous (in some patients) and hence regular follow up is recommended.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
