What Causes Difficulty Urination After Switching From Xanax To Klonopin?

Question: I am detoxing from Oxycontin--down from 60mg/day to 15mg. Also switched from Xanex .5 tid to Klonapin.5 tid. I am having a really hard time urinating. So far, I've always been able to eventually go--but it takes a long time, getting in shower, etc. Could this be from detoxing-- or from switching the medication?
Brief Answer:
From switching the medication, actually from the initiation of Klonopin
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Your symptom of difficulty in urinating is a less common side effect seen with the use of klonopin (active ingredient clonazepam). So the answer to your question would be 'from switching the medication' sir.
I hope you find my response helpful sir. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.
Best wishes.

Is difficulty urinating a common side effect during detox from narcotics?? I was finally able to go today--but this is very difficult.
Brief Answer:
Not really sir
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.
No sir, difficulty urinating is not really a common side effect during detox from narcotics. But it may occur some times, although in your case I think it is more likely to be associated with the klonopin use.
Hope this helps sir. Please write to me for any further clarifications.
Best wishes sir. :)
