What Causes Discomfort In Chest Radiating Towards Rib Cage?

Question: I have been experiencing chest discomfort for a couple of months but lately the discomfort has radiated up and fixed in my upper left chest towards the back of my rib cage. At times the pain and discomfort is so bad that it interferes with my nightly sleep. I toss and turn trying to obtain a comfortable position and at the same time find relief for the pain. Also about a year and a half ago a scan revealed a cyst on my right kidney. Also, lately there has been an increase with bouts of acid reflux also at night to the point where I almost vomit and MUST sit up to retain anything I have ingested prier to bed time. Caqn anyone help me with this medical problem I am experiencing.
Brief Answer:
More likely to be due to GERD

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have very carefully gone through the details provided. You could be having gastroesophageal reflux which could explain the pain, the almost-vomiting and the needing to sit up. If that is the case, taking omeprazole capsule once daily before breakfast should help. Also you need to avoid stress or long gaps between meals. Be sure not to go to bed just after dinner, rather take some walk after your dinner.
However, I would also suggest you to get an ECG done to rule out any possible heart cause.
