What Causes Disesthesia Of The Scalp?
Question: I am having a burning sensation right where one's scalp fuses together. I have had it on and off for a couple of months for minutes at a time, but today it seems to be with me all day. I have had migraines, temporal arteritis in the past but this seems different. I also have cervical disk disease. I am 73 years old. I have been sneezing and a runny nose. My regular doctor is out of town this week so I am looking for some advice.

Burning sensation in the scalp, especially in the upper part are very common complaints in this age, and are considered totally benign. Unlike migraine and tensive type headache, this is not specific and not associated to any particular condition. There is no need to explore with further examinations and no treatment is really efficient. Some doctors would prescribe amitriptyline, but there is no clear evidence on its efficacy.
Do not worry, it is totally benign and self limiting.
